About Us

Acme Mechanical Contractors of VA, Inc. is a commercial plumbing and heating contractor serving the Northern Virginia area. They have grown in the past several years to 150 of the greatest employees in Northern Virginia, and have had the privilege to work with some of the finest Subcontractors and General Contractors in the Washington D.C. Metropolitan Area. They now occupy a new facility with a total of 32,000 square feet of floor space for our sheet metal shop, pipe fabrication, and warehouse, along with another 7,000 square feet of mezzanine office space.

Acme Mechanical is a family owned business. Gary London personally oversees the operations of Acme to ensure the quality. Gary is a master plumber, HVAC Mechanic and gasfitter. Acme is a member of DC Metropolitan Subcontractors Association and Associated Builders and Contractors. Acme does the plumbing, pipefitting, and welding in house. They fabricate and install the sheet metal duct work for all of our projects. In early 2000 they automated their sheet metal shop, by purchasing a new coil line and a plasma cutter. They take a great deal of pride in all projects, and expect the workmanship to be among the best in the industry. The only items subcontracted are the ATC systems, the plumbing and mechanical insulation, and the balancing work. By self performing much of the plumbing and mechanical system, it gives us greater control over the quality and coordination of the systems.

Acme Mechanical Contractors of Virginia, Inc. evolved from L&S Mechanical Contractors Inc, an Oklahoma Contractor. Gary London, owner of Acme Mechanical Contractors, started working for L&S in the summer of 1970. During this time L&S worked in Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas, Missouri, Alabama, North Carolina, and the southern part of Virginia. After bidding several projects on the east coast, Acme contracted a new Apartment Complex in Virginia Beach, and followed it up with another one in Rockville, Maryland. In 1986 it was decided to open a Branch office in Manassas, Virginia. When Mr. London relocated from Oklahoma to Manassas, VA he brought with him several employees, some of whom are still with Acme today.

The first three or four years most of their work was in the multifamily housing area. They started to work their way into the commercial market in the late 80's. They did their first new elementary school in 1989. In the past seven years they have been involved in the new construction of two new middle schools and four new elementary schools in Stafford County, one new middle school and several new elementary schools, along with several renewals and additions in Prince William County. They have also been involved in several renewals and additions in Fairfax, Arlington, and Fauquier Counties. Most of Acme's work has been in the school market, although they have also been involved with many new churches, office buildings, retail stores, and hospitals. Acme works in Northern Virginia and as far south as Richmond.
